Often, clients come to me with a tray of “BEST BEAUTY BUYS” or “18 TIME ALLURE BEST BEAUTY WINNER” and it’s in the graveyard of the ‘Bathroom of Broken Dreams‘ I affectionately call it.
Sometimes you have the right tools in your toolbox but they are not being applied properly leaving you sad and on to the next big thing. You read it was a winner, or it worked perfectly on that tween beauty vlogger, maybe the shade wasn’t perfect for you or maybe applying it incorrectly,...In this case, you can have too much of a good thing.
I suggest every few years, book a makeup lesson or a purge sesh to go through your cosmetics and refresh your skills with a professional. this could prevent the stockpile of broken dreams or purchasing too much you don’t need. the meantime, I would like to share a list of my fail-proof products for any budget, gender or preference.
WHY YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG:
Some common mistakes I see is that there is not one concealer fits all..you may need 2 or even 3...Ask yourself what would you like to hide?
For dark spots and pimples choose for coverage that’s more matte and for the complexion.
Dark under-eyes, Veins or deep circles? Try one that’s creamer, hydrating and balmy for under eye area that you can use to refresh later in the day or add a corrector. Bags? The key here is to lighten UNDER the puff not accentuate it with a lighter concealer. Remember that light brings it forward and darkening to pushes it back. Consider adding a Corrector such as the BOBBI BROWN UNDER EYE CORRECTOR $29 that corrects ashy tones and can be added to any concealer.
When concealing pimples, a must-have a classic oldie-but-goodie Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, SC3 Medium with Yellow or Pink Skin Tones, 0.207 Ounce$36 where you can custom blend and darken raised pimple or lighten or correct to bring light where you want to lift
that area.

I was in Paris a million years ago working at Printemps and I saw my first glimpse of Men’s Makeup by Jean Paul Gaultier. of course. He had a gel bronzer, tinted brow gel & concealer. L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer $10 L'Oreal always amazes me. The technologies in mass-market beauty have come so far. I have grabbed this in a pinch when I needed one in an emergency and was VERY impressed. Many shades and the price makes this a great pick.
Don’t forget the Tools:
Using a tiny foundation brush with a light amount set any concealer to keep it from budging.
Double-ended and great for travel. This contour, setting and concealing all in one tool.
